State Department for Parliamentary Affairs Supports National Environmental Restoration and Food Security Initiatives
The Principal Secretary for Parliamentary Affairs Dr. Aurelia Rono on Thursday, 25th June 2026, joined the First Lady, H.E. Mama Rachel Ruto, EGH, during a landmark environmental restoration and community empowerment initiative under the Mau Forest Complex Integrated Conservation and Livelihoods Improvement Programme (MFC-ICLIP) in Kuresoi North, Nakuru County.
The event brought together national and county leaders, development partners, and local communities committed to advancing environmental conservation, climate resilience, sustainable agriculture, and improved livelihoods.
During the visit, the First Lady officially adopted her 33-hectare restoration block within the Mau Forest Complex and commissioned a one-million fruit and tree seedling nursery, reinforcing the Government's commitment to ecosystem restoration and Kenya's national tree-growing agenda.
H.E. Mama Rachel Ruto also commissioned the Mama Kitchen Gardens initiative, aimed at strengthening household food security, improving nutrition, and promoting sustainable farming practices. In addition, she commissioned the Milkwen Farmers Cooperative Society, an initiative expected to improve market access, strengthen agricultural value chains, and enhance farmers' incomes.
The day's activities also highlighted the importance of partnerships between Government, development partners, and local communities in advancing environmental conservation, food security, climate action, and sustainable socio-economic development.
The Principal Secretary reaffirmed the State Department for Parliamentary Affairs' commitment to supporting the implementation of Government programmes through effective coordination and parliamentary engagement. She noted that the Department remains dedicated to facilitating legislative and policy frameworks that advance environmental conservation, agricultural transformation, and community empowerment, in line with the Government's vision of a greener, food-secure, and economically empowered Kenya.
