Preparations of Annual Work Plan, Procurement Plan, Annual Financial Statements, Cash Flow and Performance Contracts for Financial Year 2026/2027

The State Department for Parliamentary Affairs held a workshop for preparations of its Annual Work Plan, Procurement Plan, Annual Financial Statements, Cash Flow and Performance Contracts for financial year 2026/2027 which also marks the beginning of the second half of the SDPA Strategic Plan 2023-2027.

Principal Secretary State Department for Parliamentary Affairs Dr. Aurelia Rono officiated the closing of the four days’ workshop and was taken through the final documents before submission of the Annual Work Plan to the State Department for Economic Planning at the National Treasury. In her remarks, she reiterated the importance of the workshop as the Department commences the 2026-2027 Financial Year adding that it is prudent that the State Department prepares in earnest for the activities of the year ahead.

The Principal Secretary underscored the importance of including every activity to be undertaken in the financial year in the Annual Work Plan for purposes of budgeting. She further appreciated the entire team for their commitment in finalizing the documents before the set submission of financial deadline of 31st August 2026.

On Performance Contract, the PS reminded staff on the importance of setting realistic targets which are directly linked to the strategic objectives of the state department. She advised Heads of departments to take ownership of the commitments made in the Performance contract and to ensure the set targets are implemented. She further urged them to continue observing professionalism and commitment to attaining results.

The workshop follows the signing of the Performance Contract between the Principal Secretary and Prime Cabinet Secretary (PCS) for the FY 2026/2027 which is essential in the preparation for the activities of the year ahead and achievement of the State Departments vision and mandate.

The PS emphasized the need to continue engaging with partners and the National Treasury to improve the SDPA annual budget allocation so as to enable the State Department achieve its targets for the next financial year. The PS commended the State Department for the good work they have been doing despite having limited resources.

In attendance were Heads of Departments and other technical staff from their respective departments.
